Assistant Professor, National Taipei University (NTPU), Taiwan

Assistant Professor in the Computer Science department at National Taipei University (NTPU), Taiwan, earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the National Taipei UniveArsity of Technology (NTUT), specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI). His research aims to leverage AI to improve human health, enhance industrial efficiency, and address critical societal challenges. His research interests encompass Fuzzy Systems, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Image Processing, AIoT Applications, and Intelligent Control Systems. Dr. Basanta has successfully applied these technologies to address critical real-world challenges such as industrial defect detection, anomaly detection in transportation, tumor detection in healthcare, aquaculture management, and innovative healthcare system design. During his postdoctoral research at NTUT and at National Penghu University, he led cutting-edge projects in AI-driven image processing, object detection, and edge computing, focusing on developing innovative rehabilitation systems using deep learning to benefit elderly individuals and premature infants.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Basanta has published peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals like IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE ACCESS, Ecological Informatics, Processes, Int. Journal of Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing, Applied System Innovation, International Journal of Fuzzy Systems, and the British Journal of Ophthalmology. He actively reviews for leading AI journals, including those focused on computer vision, edge AI, healthcare AI, explainable AI, and sustainability, and serves as the Publication Chair for prominent conferences like iFuzzy 2023 and CACS 2023. Dr. Basanta possesses a strong foundation in advanced machine learning algorithms, GPU-accelerated AI models, IoT applications, image segmentation, and data visualization. Proficient in Python, C++, and Java, he also brings expertise in Oracle DBA and networking. His doctoral research focused on developing novel algorithmic frameworks for large-scale data and image processing, driving innovation in both academia and industry.

Recognized for his excellence in mentoring, Dr. Basanta received the Best Teacher Mentor Award at NTPU in 2024. Under his guidance, students have achieved significant accomplishments, including 1st and 3rd place wins in the Global Hackathon and numerous prestigious awards in AI competitions. His research has resulted in improved industrial productivity and enhanced patient outcomes. Committed to advancing the field of AI and intelligent systems, Dr. Basanta strives to foster a collaborative academic environment and develop impactful solutions to global challenges.
